everyday when i get home from work i turn on some tunes and get to cookin. thought i’d share my jams playlist via spotify #best. it’s free. music.

i couldn’t find a solid recipe that i felt good enough about to post here so i’ll share some new snacks that i’ve been addicted to. snacking is the best! i would wear a shirt that says that. or one that states that i am allergic to mornings. or both.

kale chips. cut stems out of kale leaves. dress in a bit of oil, salt, and pepper. cook for 5-7 minutes with oven at 425°f.

kevita and kind. kevita’s mango and coconut is like a party in your mouth. i switch off between this and synergy kombucha’s guava goddess. probiotics are micro-organisms that are thought to inhibit pathogens and toxin producing bacteria, improving intestinal health and function. examples of foods that contain probiotics are: yogurt, kombucha, sauerkraut, miso, kefit, and sour pickles. kombucha is a fermented sweet tea that detoxifies the body with probiotics and healthy amino acids. i just read that it has been used to clear up yeast infections.. interesting. i also read that none of what i just stated above has been evaluated by the fda. i still like the drinks.

kind bars. they are deliciously sticky and nutty (VETO), all natural (i’m not quite sure what that means exactly), gluten and wheat free, has 5g of fiber, non gmo and no trans fats, dairy free, and a low glycemic index (helping to keep you fuller longer and control appetite – gi measures how a carbohydrate-containing food raises blood sugar levels).

beans, again. can’t go without them. can of black beans with a pinch of salt, coriander, and a teaspoon of cayenne. i put waaay too much cayenne in and needed to cut it with something so i threw a very ripe peach in there with some red onions and it was funky fresh.

my parents used to give this to me growing up. half an avocado, always filled the pit’s hole to the brim with champagne dressing. eat with a spoon. filling, green, and light.

pretzel thins are the best thing i’ve discovered in a while at the supermarket. i may be the last one on the boat for this one but man are they great. seen here with salmon salad made from salmon in a can with: capers, red onion, veganaise, salt and pepper, and lemon juice.

this super cool blogger over at taking root taught me about this tasty tea. the blog says that this tea is powdered green tea leaves, allowing you to digest them, and increasing its benefits ten-fold. mother knows best. she has a pretty cool latte recipe over there, check it out.

garbanzo beans. drain and rinse a can of garbanzo beans. toss in a teaspoon of olive oil, 1/2 teaspoon of curry powder, 1/2 teaspoon of chili powder, and a pinch of salt. cook in the oven at 425°f and bake for 12-15 minutes.

so i know i write a lot about beans but i just love them. look at this! i just found it on pinterest. trying so hard to stop eating dairy (with the exception of cheese) and meat. it’s just so hard on saturday night when someone orders a pepperoni pizza, those little slivers smell so good. and then again on sunday when all i want is a little froyo with  my jelly bellys.

in a dutch oven: <1/4 cup vegetable oil (heat this in the pan before adding the rest of the ingredients and make sure it is HOT with a few kernels), 1/2 cup popcorn kernels, 1/3 cup sugar, and 3/4 teaspoon salt. should only take a few minutes. leave the lid on. sounds like a lot of sugar and oil but it makes a lot of popcorn.

  1. Yum! Love snacking too. Good popcorn recipe I learned from my vegan friend: use coconut oil to pop the kernels, and sprinkle with nutritional yeast. So addictive.

    1. Yum that sounds SO good. I need to buy nutritional yeast. Whole Foods?
